Best practice:
- Submit completed Field Trial Results Reports
- via email within 2 weeks of your field trial to the Awards Chair
- via USPS within two weeks of your field trial to AKC
- Submit to the Tally Ho editor, either email or paper copies (not both), include photos in the same email and identify club, class, and date.
- Check the AKC Event Search page to verify the event is happening (and is not cancelled) and/or contact the FT Secretary for that club.

If you are organizing a fun field trial event, please contact the FTAC Chairperson to let them know and we can make sure to post it on here.
Quarterly FTAC Meeting
Quarterly Meeting, held on Zoom or another videoconferencing application (Teams, FaceTime, etc.).
Meeting starts at 8pm.
Bring a drink, an idea, and a collaborative attitude.
FTAC is a space in which we can work to improve the basset hound as a field trial dog run on rabbits and hare.
Nationals
Each year in October, the Basset Hound Club of America hosts a National Specialty that includes the Nationals Field Trial.

Arrival: People may begin arriving at the field trial grounds Thursday after noon.
Clubhouse has toilets, showers, a kitchen, space to rest, work, and socialize.
The Nationals Field Trial includes:
- The field trial, including the open, dog, derby, and champion classes as well as an absolute.
- FTAC Meeting of the FTAC chairperson and representatives.
- Annual banquet where field trial awards are announced.
Join the BHCA. Your membership includes a subscription to the basset hound magazine Tally Ho and helps support basset hound events and preservation breeding.
Annual Banquet
The annual banquet for field trials is held each year on Saturday at the annual BHCA National Specialty Field Trial.
2026: Indiana
