Criteria for the Annual Awards in Field Trialing

Absolute Winner
BHCA Spring and Fall Nationals Field Trials
First place hound from each class (dog, bitch, champion) at the Nationals FT are run together for absolute.
Derbies of the Year
The male and female Derbies (Hounds up to two years) who accumulate the most points at licensed and member field trials for the year.
Points are based on number of hounds in competition.
Points accumulate within a one year time frame.
Most Consistent Hound
Winner of the most points in the year at licensed and member field trials in all stakes.
Points awarded as follows: First place – 4; Second place – 3; Third place – 2; Fourth place – 1
Points accumulate within a one year time frame.
Top Producing Sire and Dam Field Trial Basset of the Year
The top-ranking dog and bitch whose get acquire the most points for the year at licensed and member field trials in any stakes.
Points based on number of Hounds in competition.
Points accumulate within a one year time frame.
Grand Field Champions
Winners of 20 points total from the Field Champion stakes.
Points awarded as follows: First place – 4; Second place – 3; Third place – 2; Fourth place – 1
Points accumulate over more than a year.
Note: All owners must be BHCA members to qualify for field trial awards.
